about lightspace

Lightspace is a post-rock/math-rock/shoegaze quartet from Bandung, Indonesia. They are Gema Rendrahadi (Guitar), Ogy Ahmad (Bass), Helmi Mahdi (Guitar), and Bimo Senoaji (Drum), primarily playing and creating music in blending the japanese post-rock ambients and the melodies of math rock, they are very much under the influence of toe, té, maybeshewill, and sleepmakeswaves.

This band is surely a spotlight stealer when they're performing live. They often bring their own pack of atmosphere into every gig and stage, with the spectacular stage act and elegant sound worming through many eyes and ears at the utmost enjoyment.

The frontman, Gema, knows really well to bring his strong own personal style into this quartet. Growing up under the classic rock influence of his father, he instead found his true love with the uniqueness of Japanese music's guitar licks, so he decided to throw all his love into the band's creative process.

At it's very best, the strong guitar licks of Gema are being backed up by the very precise harmonies of Helmi Mahdi. Being a pop rock guitarist before he joined this band in 2013, he effectively added his often earwormy guitar melodies into the band's aggressive but comforting musical composition.

On the sideline, you can't abide by the common rules of a bassist in a band. With Lightspace, you can't miss the bassist's stage act and play style for good. The long haired swinging man is named Ogy. With the influence of many hard rock and emo bands, he completes the low-end of the band's mid-guitar showdown.

On the back-end, there's this prodigy named Bimo who started playing drums by the age of 5, mostly because his family is very much composed of music enthusiasts and players. His style of playing is complexly fun to watch but very reassuring for the band to explore the musical sync-ups much deeper.

On May 2017, They released their debut EP titled 'Levias', which had critically acclaimed by many local medias and had  successfully taken the hearts of many post-rock and math-rock fans in Indonesia.

They also successfully claimed their way to play in many notable showcases and stages, such as DCDC Musikkita on Global TV in February 2018, and acted as the opening of The Milo (the legendary shoegaze band in Indonesia) at their own showcase in May 2018.

Now the band is planning to set their milestone for the beloved fans by releasing the first full album on October 2018 which will be titled "Yuugen".

"Being Human Means Having Limit" is the first single of the album. With it, they want to tell the beautiful compositional story of how they accepting themselves as human, underlining the positivity in many human limitations.
